World Wetlands Day

February 1, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

World Wetlands Day (WWD) is celebrated internationally each year in February. The international theme for this year is “Wetlands and Climate Change.” The national focal point is the Negril Environmental Protection Area.

The event will be held at the Negril Community Centre, Norman Manley Boulevard, Negril, and Westmoreland between 9:00 a.m. – 1:00p.m on  Friday, February 1. The activities for the event will include the finals of the competitions for wetlands quiz, essay, poster, drum painting and comic. 18 schools within the Environmental Protection Area are invited to participate in these competitions. There will be exhibitions from partners and promotion to community groups and stakeholders. There will also be an outside broadcast as means of bringing national attention to the wetland areas in the Negril EPA. This event is being held in collaboration with the National Environment & Planning Agency.

The Negril area Environmental Protection Trust (NEPT) cordially invites you and the members of the Negril Chamber of Commerce to join in this grand awareness building and meaningful event.  Please feel free to contact us at 957-3736 for confirmation of your participation.

Sincerely,
