NCC & TEF West End Road Renovation

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Negril Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Enhancement Fund Road Renovation Project

Negril, Jamaica – March 19, 2018

The Negril Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and the local community would like to thank the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) and Dr. Carey Wallace for funding the repairs of the enormous potholes along the West End road from the roundabout to the Negril light house.

These potholes were extremely dangerous to pedestrians, motorists and endangered the lives of the school children for some time now. The NCC has been trying to get the potholes fixed by the usual sources but with no luck. Once the NCC contacted Dr. Carey Wallace at TEF and pointed out the danger which these potholes presented – the required TEF documentation was sent, completed and returned – which initiated the undertaking to fund the project. Ultimately, the work was executed satisfactorily within a short time period and well within budget.

This little project demonstrates how the Negril Chamber of Commerce continuously strives for the best for their citizens and works with local contractors efficiently, as well as highlighting how the TEF and the NCC can work together for the betterment of the Negril community.

The NCC continues to lobby for funding for other projects such as the implementation of better sidewalks, funding for a fruit and vegetable market, the development of the public beach park and increased road safety measures along the West End, as well as the Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril.
